Disability inclusion in church: the ABC journey

'Room at the Table' introduces the ABC journey of disability inclusion, a framework that Through the Roof uses across all its work to support disabled people to be fully involved in God’s Kingdom.

Through Scripture, lived experience, and reflective discussion, churches are invited to explore three vital outcomes:

Access Everyone knowing Jesus — with disabled people fully welcomed into Christian life.
Belonging All growing together as the family of God — flourishing in community and relationship.
Commission Everyone reflecting the character of Jesus — with disabled people making disciples, to the glory of God.

What the resource offersVideo filming in a studio: two women having an interview while a cameraman records them.

Featuring Bible teaching and personal stories, 'Room at the Table: Making Disciples on the ABC Journey of Disability Inclusion'  is a bible-based video resource for churches that:

  • Encourages reflection on disability and discipleship
  • Provides practical tools for disability-inclusive church life
  • Shares insights from disabled people about barriers to church and Christian life
  • Encourages the Great Commission with disabled people (24% of the UK population)
  • Supports churches at every stage of the journey of disability inclusion.

This high‑impact video series and study guide helps churches move from awareness to action — nurturing Access, Belonging, and Commission together.

Why Through the Roof created this resource

Video filming in a church: a woman in a wooden chair interviews a man in a wheelchair, while a cameraman records itAt Through the Roof, we exist to see disabled people included, valued, and equipped as disciples of Jesus.

By sharing the ABC journey through this video resource, we want to amplify the voices of disabled Christians and to equip churches with:

    • Biblically grounded teaching on disability inclusion
    • Honest stories rooted in lived experience
    • A shared language for disability inclusion in church life.

Through the Roof has now adopted the ABC journey model to ensure all our activities contribute to meaningful inclusion across the Church.
