Apply for a Mission Trip with Through the Roof

Every time you apply for a mission with Through the Roof, it is an adventure with God: with challenges, surprises and occasional disappointments; but predominantly it’s a time of blessing, inspiration and encouragement.

We are always looking for new volunteers to join us on our international missions: so please do read our Brief Guide to International Missions and get in touch.

The Process

Look through our International trips webpage and read the Brief Guide, then think about what kind of trip you might want to volunteer for

Phone our International Missions Manager on 01372 749955, or email international@throughtheroof.org for a chat about missions

If you and they both decide to go ahead with the next stage of the process, you will be sent a fuller guide to volunteering, and a link to an online application form

Please fill the form in, and complete any other admin requested

References will be taken

You may then be invited to join the trip, and asked to fill in a second form with more details. A non-returnable deposit will need to be paid once you’re accepted on the team, but please don’t send any money until requested

Team members need to book their own flights, and will need to ensure that they arrive in-country simultaneously with other team members

You will receive regular emails in preparation and meet for a team briefing: in person or over Zoom

You will go on the mission trip

There will be an opportunity for an evaluation and feedback, after the trip.

Completing an application form

• A completed form is needed for each mission trip. We’ll need a new form even if you’ve completed one for a previous Wheels for the World or International Roofbreaker trip. 
• The form is now split into two parts and filled in online. Please contact kathy@throughtheroof.org for Wheels for the World trips, or Faith at international@throughtheroof.org for Roofbreaker International trips. We can support if you need any help filling the forms in. 
• We prefer to speak to people initially before they complete the application forms, so they are not publicly available online.

Medical information

Please consider your medical needs carefully, so we can best support you whilst on the mission trip. We will need any important medical details and may need you to consult your doctor to seek further advice to confirm if we can meet your needs on a mission trip. Volunteers may need to have vaccinations.

Calling to serve in mission

Please take time to pray and search your heart to confirm God is supporting you to go on mission.

Finance and logistics

We need a minimum number of people for each trip. Flights will be booked in advance by team members, so they arrive simultaneously. Your deposit (usually £250) needs to be paid asap to secure your space. The balance will need to be paid in advance of the trip.

Our volunteers are responsible for:

• Booking and paying for their own flights
• Paying a team fee that covers their in-country costs.

Through the Roof and our in-country partner organisations are responsible for:

• Finding a place for the team to stay.
• Organising local transport for the team.
• Identifying local contacts in the community to empower, enable and equip.
• Providing one day sightseeing in local area.
• Providing interpreters.
• Identifying event venues.
• Caring for all aspects of the team when they are in-country.
